Peer-to-peer networking and innovative thinking will be two of the key principles behind The Inside Network (IN), the latest entrant to the Australian financial services education/events stage.

The brainchild of Jamie Nemtsas and Drew Meredith, principals of the IFA firm Wattle Partners, and Sheridan Lee, founder of the public relations and third-party marketing firm Shed Enterprises, The IN www.theinside.network will launch in 2020 with the sole goal of providing a genuine alternative to the traditional events format.
Nemtsas says: “The IN believes that in this high-pressure investment environment, the need to share intellectual capital and collaborate is critical, and the extensive education/event program planned for 2020 will facilitate this across the three most important pools of capital in Australia and the world – IFAs, institutions and investors (SMSFs and high net worth individuals).”

Other events will include study tours of the East Coast and West Coast of the US and a Symposium in Washington eight weeks before the US election and a week-long symposium for institutions in Tel Aviv with a focus on technology, innovation, and water conservation.

Other symposiums will cover private equity, income, and international investing, there will be “fish-bowl” events featuring CEOs and Chairs of ASX-listed companies, as well as journals, videos, podcasts, training and white papers.

Nemtsas, who was the owner of the industry leading Centre for Investor Education (CIE) before selling to Euromoney in 2014, says The IN, as an exclusive global community of investment professionals, will bring a fresh approach to the education/events industry that will challenge traditional thinking, whether it be presentations, symposiums, publications or training.

“In a rapidly changing investment climate, the need for all investors to have all the tools needed to make the right decisions has never been more imperative. We want our participants to derive tangible benefits from The IN experience.”

The extensive program will be complemented by The IN’s suite of journals, The Inside Investor, The Inside Adviser and The Inside Insto, that will support ongoing member learning and active collaboration all year.

Lee says: “The IN will breathe fresh air into the events industry by delivering tailored, asset-class specific forums and employing innovative session formats to stimulate deeper learning. Our events will also be delivered in unique venues and constructed for smaller groups to ensure significant peer-to-peer networking opportunities.

“The other advantage we have comes from the collective skills and industry knowledge we have acquired as active participants in the market – Drew and Jamie as principals of an IFA firm serving high net worth clients and myself in the institutional space where I have raised more than $13 billion for clients over more than two decades.

“It means we know the issues all investors are grappling with as the investment landscape becomes more competitive, inter-connected, and responsive, all while being disrupted daily, whether it be Environmental Social Governance (ESG) issues, technology, or geo-political events. All events will draw on our vast experience to ensure we deliver topical and challenging material for members of all three pools of capital.”

IN will be staffed in Melbourne and Sydney and already has built a formidable team with Ina Krasteva, previously APAC Business Development Manager at CIE, joining as a Senior Network Manager, Jason Darmody has relocated from his role at GDS (tech conferences) to head up sales, and Silvana Eccles, formerly head of the Australian Investors Association, will direct the Investor network.

Chris Tucker and Alec Law will handle the creative, while Melanie Swieconek from the Australian Ballet and Cassie Fisher from the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance will handle events. Industry veterans Nicholas Way and John Kavanagh, with Annabelle Dickson, will head up content. The rest of the team will be announced soon.

Meredith said: “We’re looking to build this company from the ground up with exceptional people doing exceptional things!”
