AustralianSuper has sided with the NSW Government and data provider Dion Global Solutions in getting behind the latest major fintech startup conference, which takes place in Sydney next week. The conference will showcase 32 Australian and New Zealand innovators in the space.
Ian Dunbar, the former UBS executive who was instrumental in the member direct investment options of AustralianSuper and several other industry funds, is overseeing the event, at the Ivy Ballroom on September 24.
He has formed a network known as Afiniation, which includes events, a newsletter and other communications, to provide co-operative marketing and other services to the nascent fintech industry.
AustralianSuper has become a sponsor of the event, at which NSW Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation, Victor Dominello, will speak. The NSW Government has promoted the country’s largest incubator of fintech, Stone & Chalk, which is financially supported by more than 20 big companies, including AMP. AMP’s former chief executive and current director of Westpac, Craig Dunne, is the chair. Stone & Chalk has room for nearly 100 start-up operations on two floors of AMP’s Bridge Street building in Sydney.
The showcase includes Avoka (winner of Finovate Best in Show May 2015 Silicon Valley and named “Most Innovative Customer Engagement Solution” for Citi Mobile Challenge Europe, the Middle East and Africa earlier this year), Serko (the dominant corporate travel management system in Asia Pac with 2 million users and 30 per cent of all corporate travel flowing through their system), Listcorp (the world’s first on-line communications platform designed to dramatically improve the way listed companies and investors engage) and HashChing (Australia’s first online home loan marketplace).
