Bank of China’s Dr Cao confirmed for Shanghai

Dr Yuanzheng Cao, the chief economist and executive director of Bank of China Group will open the Investment Operations & Custody Conference in Shanghai on April 29-30 next year – the largest event of its kind held in China.

Dr Cao is widely regarded as one of China’s leading macroeconomists and is leading Government’s renminbi globalization process.

He will speak about the rise of the currency and the implications for global investors.

The conference, which will focus on implementation issues facing institutional investors throughout the Asia Pacific, is being held at Shanghai’s Hyatt on the Bund. About 250 attendees are expected from more than 10 countries.

Other conference highlights include:

. a report on governance issues faced by pension funds in the region by Benjie Fraser, a London-based managing director of JP Morgan

.  a case study by Australia’s Future Fund on the development of its operational and custody system

. a case study by Australian Super on its program to in-source the management of up to 30 per cent of the fund’s $US60 billion in assets, and

. an analysis of the future for outsourcing and global integration, by Andrew Erickson, head of North Asia for State Street Global Services.
