BNP Paribas Investment Partners has added to its suite of multi-affiliate managers through a deal with global value equity specialist Barrow, Hanley, Mewhinney & Strauss (Barrow Hanley).

Through the alliance, BNP Paribas, which represents the quality fixed interest manager Fischer Francis Trees & Watts and several others, will be the exclusive distributor of Barrow Hanley’s investment expertise in Australia and New Zealand.

Barrow Hanley was founded in 1979 in Dallas, Texas and has been providing value-oriented investment strategies to institutional investors, mutual funds, and family offices for the past 35 years. With an institutional focus and boutique culture, Barrow Hanley has a particularly stable client base, with many relationships in place for more than 20 years.

The firm’s global value equity strategy is a true traditional value portfolio concentrated in 50-70 stocks, with an investment process that focuses on bottom-up stock picking of companies with improving or stable operating fundamentals.

Commenting on the alliance and this broadened exposure to Australian and NZ investors, managing director, Robert Barkley, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with BNP to expand the reach of our global value equity offering to Australian and New Zealand investors.

“We trust in their proven capability as a strong distributor of international investment managers and we look forward to working in partnership with them to protect and grow the assets of Australian and New Zealand based investors in a manner that benefits all participants.”
